Turning Pain into Purpose

I'm always thrilled to meet new people and learn about their unique stories, so I thought it would be great to introduce myself and then hear from you! My name is Katonya Trent, and I'm a mom to a former 22 weeker, an Author, social impact speaker and the creator of Konnected Thru 22. KT22 was formed based off my premature birth and NICU experience. My journey in empowering NICU/Premature birth families began when I unexpectedly delivered my son at home alone just 22 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Kareem spent 180 Days in the NICU where he received an extensive amount of care. He was discharged with a Gtube, oxygen, and a pulse oximeter.

My son is now 6yrs old and thriving. After writing a memoir titled “22 And 6 Born on 11/26”, I decided it was time to spread Premature Birth Awareness and provide families who have encounter a similar journey with Hope and support while navigating life through the NICU. It's been an incredible ride, and I haven't looked back since! My organization, Konnected Thru 22 provides quarter donations to families in the NICU, monthly Instagram Live sessions with another Premature family member, and resources to NICU/Premature families. I am blessed to be able to turn my pain into a passion.

A fun fact about me that not many people know is I have a desire to go Sky Diving. I get a thrill of, and one of my absolute favorite things in the world is to be a kid again with my 6-year-old son Kareem.  This little tidbit says a lot about who I am, both personally and professionally.

Now, it's your turn! I would love to get to know each of you a bit better. Here's a fun way to do it: drop an emoji in the comments that represents a little-known fact about yourself. It could be anything – a hobby, a secret talent, or something you love. I'll try my best to guess what it is! This is a great opportunity for us to connect on a personal level and discover the unique traits that make each of us special.

So, don't be shy! Let's start a conversation and create a vibrant community where we all feel connected. I can't wait to read your comments and learn more about the amazing individuals who make up this community.

Looking forward to your responses!

Warm regards,

Katonya Trent
